EHRP became its own non-profit organization, instituted by its inaugural board, to commence independent operations as of January 1, 2022. Form 990, Part III, Line 1 Continued In 2021 EHRP placed more than 400 stories, including articles, photo essays, videos and radio reports, in media outlets reaching a potential audience of more than 1.6 billion new consumers. Form 990, Part III, Line 1 Continued The journalism that we commissioned and supported included a graphic report in Grist and Capital Main that mapped the large number of oil exploration sites in the middle of communiities, next to the places where people live, study, and seek medical care. In Hawaii, our fellow Kristin Consillio broadcasted several segments on Hawaiis housing crisis on KITV, the ABC affiliate in Honolulu. We commissioned a first-person essay by Katie Prout in the Chicago Reader that looked at the lack of mental healthcare access for Medicaid patients. Form 990, Part III, Line 1 Continued EHRP produced its first podcast series, Going for Broke with Ray Suarez, featuring writers who had first-hand experience with economic precarity, including eviction and homelessness. The series was honored by the Webby Awards, won a Sigma Delta Chi Award from the Society of Professional Journalists and an Excellence in Financial Journalism Award from the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.
