RAIN offers incubator companies office work spaces three wet laboratory spaces a wide variety of common lab equipment an experienced lab manager and opportunities for networking financial support and consulting. By creating and hosting young biotech companies RAIN gives local students access to essential industry experiences and promotes development of a local biotechnology ecosystem. In 2021 RAIN had three biotech companies focused primarily on protein production and process development working in our laboratory spaces. Additionally RAIN's community kitchen supported incubated more than 10 small food companies who provide catering services and cooking classes run food trucks and sell their products at local farmers' markets. 601829 0 192299 RAIN Research - RAIN Research encompasses contract services for and collaborative projects with established biotech companies as well as in-house RAIN-specific research projects. These projects create jobs for training students provide critical funding for RAIN and develop connections and income for our incubator companies. In 2021 RAIN participated in several projects that were part of large grants or collaborative efforts. RAIN worked on projects including validation of a commercially-available clinical enzyme-linked immunosorbant assay ELISA testing and validation of a self-contained saliva-based polymerase chain reaction PCR system and continued development of in-house RAIN saliva blood and sewage libraries for COVID19.
