As a result of Covid-19, the Erie Philharmonic had to cancel its live, ticketed concert season which consisted of 13 live performances. Instead, the orchestra broadcasted 20 free televised concerts on WQLN PBS, reaching more than 80,000 people from across the region. In addition, small groups of orchestra members provided free performances on public radio and visited neighborhoods throughout the region providing "porch" concerts. From the moment live concerts were canceled, the Philharmonic dedicated itself to seeing the music return. To do so in a way that the entire community enjoyed for free is the embodient of the orchestra's mission to enrich, educate and entertain. 147592 0 3763 Education-The Erie Philharmonic was able to continue a robust educational outreach program during the 2020-21 season in spite of the Covid-19 pandemic. This included, but was not limited to, the continuation of our nationally recognized 60 day preschool residency program, season-long virtual offerings for the Erie Junior Philharmonic, a kindergarten-readiness program, a virtual concert geared for elementary aged children with associated curriculum distributed to approximately 6,000 students in the Erie area, and a regional family concert tour featuring five performances of Peter and the Wolf in the Park.
