Due to the continuing pandemic, the 2021 Summer Festival continued with an online format of 12 different, full-length chamber music concerts in addition to 4 live concerts at Benaroya Hall. Artistic Director James Ehnes invited 30 musicians to perform chamber works filmed at our Center for Chamber Music. The performances were available for a limited time to audiences on demand, reaching viewers in 42 states and 19 countries. These included preview lectures, master classes, free streams of previous performances, online classes that explored specific topics in great depth, and more. Attendance at education and outreach events: 16,815. Form 990, Part III, Line 4b, Program Service Accomplishments: The Winter Festival in January 2021 was adapted to safely film concerts in the Center for Chamber Music to stream to audiences around the country and world. Following the success of the previous Summer Festival, the process was refined to incorporate highly skilled videographers to present online concerts with an intimacy and immediacy that in some ways was even more apparent than in a typical concert hall format. James Ehnes invited 16 musicians to film performances that would stream on-demand for six weeks to allow concert viewers the flexibility to watch the programs when it was convenient for them. Each program included beloved masterpieces that are cornerstones of the repertoire, as well as new discoveries of lesser known, but no less deserving works.
