The Executive Director ensures that any reported concerns are addressed and that organizational policies are revisited during leadership meetings as needed. All expenditures supported staff growth and long-term organizational sustainability. Women of Color Advancing Peace and Security (WCAPS) respectfully submits this explanation for the late filing of its Form 990 for the tax year ending December 31, 2024. WCAPS timely filed Form 8868 to request an automatic extension of time to file its Form 990. However, due to limited staff capacity, ongoing financial reconciliation, and the need to compile complete and accurate financial statements, we were unable to finalize and submit the return by the extended deadline. As a small nonprofit committed to compliance and transparency, WCAPS has taken steps to strengthen its internal controls and filing calendar to prevent future delays. We respectfully request consideration of this reasonable cause and relief from any associated penalties.
