The programs aim to help students and families improve reading and education outcomes that lead to school success. 2023 Highlights * Distributed approximately 1,000 free books to children and families. * Provided afterschool tutoring to 121 K-8th grade students, all of whom demonstrated gains in reading skills, reading levels and improved school/academic performance. * Provided parent education classes and support services to 110 parents who reported increased involvement in their children's education and improved confidence to advocate for themselves and their families. * Hosted monthly gatherings for 100 families to build parent-to-parent networks and share information that supports healthy child development and improved education outcomes. * Distributed NdCAD's home learning curriculum to approximately 400 families that helped parents and children learning together while building strong literacy foundations in homes. 83548 0 19503 Educational Resources & Professional Development Training: NdCAD provides a range of educational resources and professional development training seminars for educators and youth/family service providers. Our training programs help providers become more effective in their work with children and families. In 2023, 250 educators, administrators, youth workers and child/family advocates participated in our training programs. Participating organizations included schools, public libraries and community organizations as well as government employees who provide services to children and families. Since NdCAD is exempt from federal and state income tax liability, no provision is made for current or deferred income tax expense. NdCAD is not a private foundation. Management has determined that NdCAD is not subject to unrelated business income tax. Management is not aware of any transactions that would impact NdCAD's tax-exempt status. NdCAD follows the guidance of the Accounting Standard Codification (ASC) 740, Accounting for Income Taxes, related to uncertainties in income taxes, which prescribes a threshold of more likely than not for recognition and derecognition of positions taken or expected to be taken in a tax return. For the years ended December 31, 2023 and 2022, management of NdCAD is not aware of any material uncertain tax positions. All tax-exempt entities are subject to review and audit by federal, state and other applicable agencies. Such agencies may review the taxability of unrelated business income, or the qualification of the tax-exempt entity under the Internal Revenue Code and applicable state statutes. For federal tax purposes, the tax returns remain open for possible examination for a period of three years after the respective filing deadlines of those returns.
