We identify, train, and coach them so they can work collaboratively with their volunteers to solve their own problems. 9915 0 0 Financial Services/Education: For the past 16 years FRI has provided support for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance and Financial Education Literacy Programs to over 16,000 individuals and families and have kept more than $28,000,000 in tax refunds in the community. Over 60% of our families are Hispanic. In 2021, we prepared 1,020 tax returns, provided $1,801,357 in refunds to the taxpayers, and our volunteers provided over 236 hours of financial education and literacy in the process. 8333 0 15000 FRI COVID Campaign: In 2021, as we moved from COVID-19 disaster into COVID-19 recovery, we provided (30) vaccine pop-up clinics in area apartments, businesses, churches, and special community events. We worked directly with vaccine providers and then helped broker relationships throughout the community to bring the life-saving vaccine directly to where people live and work. The Organization is not aware of any activities that would jeopardize its tax-exempt status and is not aware of any activities that are subject to tax on unrelated business income. As of December 31, 2021, the Organization believes that it has appropriate support for any tax positions taken, and as such, does not have any uncertain tax positions that are material to the financial statements. The organization is subject to filing a 990 Information return annually. In addition, a 990T tax return must be filed with the Internal Revenue Service for unrelated business income. With few exceptions, Federal information returns filed prior to 2018 for the Organization are no longer subject to examination by tax authorities. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b The Executive Director and Treasurer reviews the 990 prior to filing by doing the following: reviewing the yes/no answers given on the 990 form for accuracy, cross referencing the financial numbers to the financial statements, and corroborating other information given on the form based on first-hand knowledge of the organization. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12c Each board member and key employee is given a copy of the conflict of interest policy. On an annual basis major business relationships are reviewed for any possible conflicts of interest transactions. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15 The governing body reviews and approves compensation package for the Executive Director. Any board member with a conflict of interest with respect to the compensation in question is not allowed to participate in the deliberations. All documents used to justify the compensation package given, notes of discussions conducted, and final decisions made are maintained within the minutes of meetings held.
