We now have 30 community volunteers who headed 5 working groups; Group #1to mitigate or lower flooding;Group #2 working on reducing logging in the Pee Dee wet lands and flood Plains in the Brittons Neck community; Group #3 focused will on outdoor recreation as an alternative to forest clear cutting and to a way of generating revenue for the local economy; Group #4 developed small scale economic businesses as an alternative to clear cutting and to develop the local economy. And Group#5 operated as as a policy group to interact with various county boards, community state and federal elected and appointed officials to develop ways to address the environment in Marion County by using mitigation, adaptation and resiliency. We continued our partnership with Dogwood Alliance relative to its Forest and Climate Program. Our role is to continue to assist with campaign visibility, citizen engagement, mobilization and advocacy. Vision Team is comprise of representatives from Dogwood Alliance and New Alpha to ensure that tasks are aligned with our specific goals and objectives. The team met every other week and met with the 5 working groups. The 1st week of each month with the vision team the 2nd week of month the vision team met with the 5 working groups. Once a month the vision team met with the executive management team and quarterly we held a community meeting with all of the residents of Brittions Neck. 65000 65000 65000 The Covid-19 Pandemic has continued to have a high impact on how we conducted our program this year. A large portion of our resources provided PPE, fresh produce, cleaning supplies to 20 different communities of over 3000 persons each month in the Pee Dee region in South Carolina, such as: Darlington. Dillion, Florence, Marion, Marlboro, Chesterfield and Orangeburg. We held a monthly webinar titled "Surviving to Thriving", over 600 people benefited. On our webinar, we had medical and public health officials who dealt with issues such as: coivid-19, hypertension, diabetes, respiratory, cardiovascular diseases, sickle cell, diet and good nutrition, yoga and meditation, etc. We provided equipment such as: blood pressure kits, diabetes testing monitors, peak flow monitors, digital thermometers and other health equipment as requested by the program participants. 55000 55000 55000 We conducted a study and asset mapping to determine the need of EJ Community in the city of Florence, SC for affordable Electric Vehicle and charging station. So that electric bike share a ride program could be established in the city of Florence along with electric charging stations. So that low income residence would become familiar with the technology and have an incentive to purchase an electric vehicle as they become more affordable. We met 40 organizations via zoom on 6 occasions to discuss the energy burdens on people of color and low income communities, in order to find solutions such as: paid percentage income power plan. The plan would limit a person's utility cost to percentage income which is especially beneficial to families living in property. Also met with South Carolina State Office Regulatory Staff and Energy to create an electric Vehicle Plan. We were unable to function normally due to staff who contracted Covid -19 and family members including my wife and daughter as well as the intense grief associated with the loss of a close family member due to Covid -19.
