We now have 30 community volunteers who headed 5 working groups; Group #1to mitigate or lower flooding;Group #2 working on reducing logging in the Pee Dee wet lands and flood Plains in the Brittons Neck community; Group #3 focus will be on outdoor recreation as an alternative to forest clear cutting and to a way of generating revenue for the local economy; Group #4 will develop small scale economic businesses as an alternative to clear cutting and to develop the local economy. And Group#5 will operate as as a policy group to interact with various county boards, community state and federal elected and appointed officials to develop ways to address the environment in marion County by using mitigation, adaptation and resiliency. We continued our partnership with Dogwood Alliance relative to its Forest and Climate Program. Our role is to continue to assist with campaign visibility, citizen engagement, mobilization and advocacy 127632 127632 127632 The Covid-19 Pandemic has a high impact on how we conducted our program this year. The majority of our resources provided PPE, fresh produce, cleaning supplies to 20 different communities in the Pee Dee region in South Carolina, such as: Darlington. Dillion, Florence, Marion, Marlboro, Chesterfield and Orangeburg. We conducted regular community campaigns regarding Covid -19 that covered how people should conduct themselves, such as: mask wearing social distancing, hand washing and avoiding large crowds. We worked with South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC) to assist people tested for Covid-19. Our initial paper fiilng was sent to IRS via FedEx on Aug. 13,2021 and received by the IRS on Aug. 16,2021, as per tracking No. 282553381016 ;it contained a letter that explained that my late paper filing was directly attributed to serious eye surgery that rendered me visually impaired for a prolong period. It was somewhat tedious to transfer the information from my paper return. I paused a few times over several days throughout the online completion process.
