<PrimaryExemptPurposeTxt>Monster Education Foundation exists in order to carefully select and invest in the most promising young leaders in some of the most under-resourced neighborhoods in Chicago's South and West sides known for high crime and low educational outcomes. We empower them to be servant leaders in the community starting now while equipping them for life beyond high school through programming and funding scholarships for post secondary education.</PrimaryExemptPurposeTxt>

<DescriptionProgramSrvcAccomTxt>Leadership Program The MEF leadership program's main purpose is to equip our scholars to be change agents and servant leaders in their communities. This is done through two main events- the individual service projects (ISPs) and leadership conferences. For the ISPs, our scholars identify a need in their community and develop a plan to address it. Each scholar is required to complete an ISP annually. We had 13 scholars in 2021 and each one successfully completed their ISPs- the projects ranged from baking goods for those in need, to setting up conversations with the Chicago Police Department for purposes of building trust with community members to providing supplies for those who are without homes. Each scholar is afforded a maximum of $200 to complete their ISPs. The leadership conference occurs in the summer for one day and is done on an annual basis. This is MEF's way of assisting our scholars to hone their leadership skills.. Each scholar is matched with an adult and is required to participate in workshops that include Emotional IQ, life game, resume. This event hosts both scholars, other teens, and adults, for a total of 30 people in total.</DescriptionProgramSrvcAccomTxt>

<DescriptionProgramSrvcAccomTxt>Mentorship Program: The MEF mentorship program is set up for purposes of equipping our scholars with skills needed to be a leader by pairing them with servant leaders in our communities. There are three main ways we do this: The mentor program which connects our most at risk scholars with a mature, reliable adult figure who is a role model and shows care and concern for them. The mentors connect with our scholars on a biweekly basis. We had a total of 4 mentors for total 7 scholars. Each mentor in the mentor program receives $500 to spend on an annual basis. Big Brother/Big sister - MEF connects our leaders of change (LOC) junior board members with our scholars. This symbiotic relationship allows our LOC to gain greater appreciation of the challenges face on a daily basis. Connection Meeting: The aim here is to introduce our scholars to adults working in a career of their interest. They meet two times 6 months apart.</DescriptionProgramSrvcAccomTxt>

<DescriptionProgramSrvcAccomTxt>College Preparation: The purpose is to get our scholars ready for college or post secondary school opportunities. We have several events throughout the year, outlined below are two of the events College prep conference: Each class of scholars participates in a workshop specific to their needs. Some topics have included Career identification for 7th and 8th graders, Launching into the college experience for 12th graders. A total of 22 students were in attendance at the conference and a because the leadership conference was held online, no moneys were spent except for the minimal cost of having Zoom service. College visits: MEF allows our scholars to visit a college campus. We provide reimbursement of up to $200 per scholar. We encourage our scholars to visit at least two schools of interest to learn more about the university and to experience the college campus. No MEF scholars visited college campuses in 2021 as of yet. Rustic Falls You Science Meeting: the YouScience career assessment takes approximately 4 hours to complete. We take our sophomore scholars to Rustic falls (a retreat providing a safe space for those who need it most ) for an overnight getaway to give them a glimpse of life outside city limits and to complete the career assessment. We did not get to take students in 2021 due to the pandemic. Scholarship Disbursement: When our scholars complete high school, we start to disburse students' scholarship each semester according to the amounts each student has accrued throughout their time with us in even amounts. In 2021, MEF disbursed scholarships to 6 students and also purchased computers for graduating seniors to use in college.</DescriptionProgramSrvcAccomTxt>
