Some of the 2020 funding was used for specific services critical to the support of children with special needs - physical, emotional, and developmental. Dr. Ashley Meredith is the daughter of Bob & Nancy Holland. We ensure there are no conflicts of interest and maintain a separation of duties through distribution of responsibilities. Also, general Board oversight, ongoing / open communication, documentation/publication of Board meeting minutes and timely financial reporting assure accuracy and transparency to the Board's actions. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12c We enforce our conflict of interest policy with questions, review of our by-laws, and through open communication and discussion during meetings and calls. This assures all actions taken (by individual board members, as well as the collective Board of Trustees) are free of any questionable practices and are absent of conflict of interest issues. Furthermore, the conflict of interest policy is distributed and signed by each Board member annually. Dec 08 2021 Letter 2694C 1. 20-8503441. 202012 67 received Jan 1, 2022. As reflected by this return, we are a small, grass roots organization raising funds to support extremely worthwhile causes. Our typical annual revenue is between $100K - 150K, with virtually all being distributed annually to support the programs defined in our mission. All work is done by volunteers, with no paid staff members, maximizing the funds available for our beneficiaries. The 2020 Form 990 was originally filed June 6, 2021 - however it was filed via a paper / pdf form and mailed to the IRS. We were notified in September that it was not received by the IRS and a subsequent copy was re-sent in early October. I was not aware that the change requiring electronic filing extended to small non-profit organizations as ours. The original Form 990 was filed on a timely basis and in good faith, with the forms being downloaded from the IRS site. There was no intended deception or violation of the new regulation and I would have thought the IRS would have clearly indicated on the forms that they needed to be filed electronically. Any potential penalty that may be imposed will directly and adversely affect our ability to carry out our mission and will result in less funds available to the orphaned and vulnerable children we support.
