The association transferred ownership of the depot and depot annex property back to the City of Pittsburg in 2021. The property was originally purchased by the City for the purpose of contracting with the association to rehabilitate and operate the property as a museum. The City transferred ownership of said property to the association in 2019. In 2021, the association, for business purposes, decided it was best to return to the original relationship and the City agreed to accept ownership back. The City originally purchased said property with the understanding the museum association would rehabilitate and operate the property as a museum. This relationship continued until 2019 when the City deeded the property to the association. In 2021, it was deemed to be in the best interest of both parties to return ownership to the City. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 6 The organization is composed of individuals and businesses whose membership must be renewed annually and is open to all members of the public. For 2021, membership was 176 members. Each member has voting rights which can be exercised at the annual meeting in January. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 7a Annually, the membership elects approximately 1/3 of the members to serve as Trustees for 3 year terms. The Trustees then elect, from its ranks, approximately 10 members to serve on the Executive Committee for one year terms. The Executive Committee is considered to be the primary governing body of the organization. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 7b Any amendments to the bylaws must be approved by the membership at its annual meeting. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b The Treasurer prepares the return and submits it to all members of the Executive Committee for their review prior to its filing. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15 All decisions regarding the compensation of the Museum Director Or Museum Administrator, as well as, the facility manager positions are made by the Executive Committee and recorded in the minutes of said meeting. No member of the Executive Committee receives compensation for their service.
