<ExplanationTxt>-POLICY: - EMBEDDING EQUITY INTO 988 POLICY BRIEF: FOLLOWING THE RELEASE OF POLICY BRIEF "EMBEDDING EQUITY INTO 988", IN JUNE 2022, THE KENNEDY-SATCHER CENTER FOR MENTAL HEALTH EQUITY (KSCMHE) PARTNERED TO CONTINUOUSLY EVALUATE BEST PRACTICES DEPLOYED BY STATES TO ENSURE EQUITY IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF 988 ON A QUARTERLY BASIS. WITH SAMHSA'S COMMITMENT TOWARDS EQUITY FOR 988, THIS QUARTERLY REPORT IS A TOOL TO HELP STATES SEE WHAT OTHERS ARE DOING TO PROMOTE EQUITABLE ACCESS. FOLLOWING 988'S GO-LIVE, KSCMHE IS TRACKING HOW EQUITY IS APPROACHED IN PUBLIC HEALTH COMMUNICATIONS AT A STATE LEVEL BY SCANNING 988 WEBSITES, IMPLEMENTATION PLANS, MARKETING MATERIALS, AND ADVISORY COMMITTEES FOR REPRESENTATION OF THE 988 EQUITY PRIORITY GROUPS. KSCMHE IS ALSO LOOKING AT WHAT NON-STATE, NON-PROFIT, OR PRACTICES CAN BE HIGHLIGHTED AS SUPPLEMENTAL BEST PRACTICES. STATES ARE BEING SCORED ON HOW MUCH OF THE FOUR DOMAINS OF INFORMATION THEY MAKE ACCESSIBLE, AND THEN ALSO SCORED ON HOW WELL THAT INFORMATION HIGHLIGHTS EFFORTS FOR THESE EQUITY GROUPS. THE AIM OF THIS PROCESS IS TO LEVERAGE STRENGTHS AND PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR STATE-TO-STATE KNOWLEDGE EXCHANGE TO OCCUR. THIS PROCESS IS ITERATIVE AND WILL PROMOTE THAT 988 IS A COLLABORATIVE EFFORT TO ADVANCE EQUITY. -CONVENING LEADERSHIP: - KSCMHE HOSTED A FIVE-PART VIRTUAL ROUNDTABLE WEBINAR SERIES ENTITLED CRIMINAL JUSTICE AND EQUITY: BRIDGING THE GAPS. THIS SERIES HOSTED OVER A HUNDRED EXPERTS AND STAKEHOLDERS WITH FOCUS AREAS OF POLICY IMPLEMENTATION AND DATA USE; BEHAVIORAL HEALTH EQUITY AND INCARCERATION; TRAUMA INFORMED SYSTEMS FOR JUSTICE INVOLVED POPULATIONS; RE-ENTRY PROGRAMS AND REDUCING RECIDIVISM; AND HOUSING ACCESS AND ENVIRONMENTAL SUPPORT SYSTEMS. THESE ROUNDTABLES RESULTED IN RECOMMENDATIONS PUBLISHED ON THE KSCMHE WEBSITE ALONG WITH ROUNDTABLE RECORDINGS FOR PUBLIC VIEWING. - THE KENNEDY FORUM'S YOUTH, SCHOOL AND FAMILY MENTAL HEALTH PARTNERSHIP EFFORTS: THE KENNEDY FORUM LED A COALITION OF STAKEHOLDERS, INCLUDING THE AMERICAN PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION, INSEPARABLE, AND MENTAL HEALTH AMERICA TO DEVELOP A POLICY ACTION PLAN ALONGSIDE THE NATIONAL GOVERNOR'S ASSOCIATION AS PART OF THEIR 2022-2023 YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH CHAIR'S INITIATIVE WHICH LED TO THE CREATION OF "STRENGTHENING YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH: A GOVERNOR'S PLAYBOOK." TO BUILD UPON THOSE HIGH-LEVEL STATE POLICY RECOMMENDATIONS, THE KENNEDY FORUM CREATED A COMPANION GUIDE WHICH DETAILS SPECIFIC ACTIONS GOVERNORS CAN TAKE ALONG WITH STATE IMPLEMENTATION STANDARDS AND BEST PRACTICE RECOMMENDATIONS. THE KENNEDY FORUM ADDITIONALLY ADVISED THE NATIONAL GOVERNOR'S ASSOCIATION AND THE NEW JERSEY FIRST LADY ON ITS MATERNAL MENTAL HEALTH WORK, CONTRIBUTING RECOMMENDATIONS WHICH WERE INCLUDED IN ITS "TACKLING THE MATERNAL AND INFANT HEALTH CRISIS: A GOVERNOR'S PLAYBOOK." COINCIDING WITH THIS EFFORT, THE KENNEDY FORUM WORKED WITH UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA AND BERKELEY RESEARCHERS TO CREATE "A ROADMAP TO IMPROVE BEHAVIORAL HEALTH AMONG FAMILIES: AN EXAMINATION OF THE SOCIAL DETERMINANTS OF HEALTH THAT INFLUENCE BEHAVIORAL HEALTH OUTCOMES AND PRACTICES TO ADDRESS THEM" WHICH INCLUDED STATE AND FEDERAL POLICY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR WHOLE-FAMILY HEALTH.</ExplanationTxt>
