This project was still ongoing in the aforementioned regions and is expected to end by June 2023. During the execution phase of the project AHAMES has assisted a total of 11,389 families and impacted a total of 162,705 registered persons in the four municipalities where the project was being executed particularly in Pichon Bel Air Bellance Cite Soleil Baraderres and the Nippes. Among the organization's deliverables as set forth by the contract in the Nippes 250 families were able to generate revenue by producing fruits 200 families in the Nippes and 2,600 families in Cite Soleil had access to fresh and nutritious food through the creation family garden among which and 150 benefited from the construction of 50 cisterns for irrigation in the Nippes 900 families had access to food through the creation of family garden for cultivated plants. 915 families in the Nippes 795 families in Cite Soleil saw their diet improved and their income grows by raising small animals that AHAMES has donated. 500 families in Belle Anse and the Nippes were trained in sustainable natural resources management 25 received training in aqueduct management 20,000 families became educated in the link between nutrition-health and hygiene through group discussion. In 2022 AHAMES has completed some of those projects and has provided access to safe drinking water to more than 30,000 people. The organization has also secured with the Bureau Conjoint Joint Bureau several other projects to respond to damages caused by the earthquake of August 14 2021 and later by hurricane Grace which has destroyed livestock and the agricultural production of the population. With the Joint Bureau AHAMES has implemented an Emergency project in Camp Perrin and Torbeck two of the most devastated regions by the earthquake. During the execution phases of this project 1,000 hygienic kits 1,000 tents and tarps were distributed and 5 drinking water systems were repaired. AHAMES has also worked on a green School Project and has provided safe drinking water Sanitation systems Wash in school program to 2 different public schools benefiting more than 1,125 school girls and 700 boys while promoting and educating in good hygiene to these students and their parents. To assist the earthquake victims AHAMES has also executed two other projects consisting in cash distribution to 300 families plants and seeds distribution to 320 farmers and the reconstruction of 10 houses for the victims of the quake. 750 families and 3,750 persons were economically uplifted from total poverty after losing everything from the hurricane and the earthquake. They were however completed in 2022 at the satisfaction of the Bureau with the exception of 2 that were still on going at the end of the year 2022 439881 0 343359 In 2022 AHAMES has continued to work on the project Mangrove whose agreement was signed in 2021 with Malteser International to work on Mangrove restoration Project in Haiti entitled: CLIMATE CHANGE MITIGATION AND ADAPTATION THROUGH MANGROVE RESTORATION IN HAITI. This project with a period of performance of 3 years will end on December 31 2023. This project was needed to bring awareness to the population about the role of the mangroves in cleaning the air from CO2 emission in reduction of global warming in serving the crustaceous and the fish as a natural habitat to migrate and reproduce. Unaware of the role of the mangroves the poor people have been cutting the mangroves to make charcoal as a source of income and cooking fuel. This project was intended to educate the population and to offer alternative economic activities capable of generating new income source rather than preying on the mangroves to make money. The goals of this project is to impact directly 7,185 families or 39,995 persons directly and indirectly 71,849 people in Haiti. This project is being executed in 3 regions: Petit Trou des Nippes Cite Soleil and Barraderes targeting the vulnerable and the poorest population living near the mangroves as well as the fishermen. The beneficiaries of the project include 655 families who will be able to generate income through other means 60 fishermen 10 fish vendors 400 charcoals producers 35 beekeepers. AHAMES will train 15 local organizations to produce plants and protect the mangroves. In 2022 AHAMES has completed the restoration of 40 hectares of Mangroves out of the 50 hectares set forth by the contract to restore and the remaining 10 hectares to be restored in 2023. The organization has also educated and empowered three local communities in forest management of mangroves how to plant mangroves to serve as habitat for the fish and crustaceans. While working on the mangrove project in 2022 AHAMES has also signed and executed and Emergency Project for Malteser International consisting at repairing and rebuilding several water systems in the locality of Belle Anse South east of Haiti that were damaged due to hurricane.
