The museum has adopted a policy of not capitalizing the collection in its financial statements. Accordingly, no collection items are recognized as assets, whether they are purchased or received as a donation. Purchases of collection items reduce net assets in the period when purchased. Proceeds from sales or insurance recoveries are recorded as increases in net assets when received. The museum ensures that the collection is protected and preserved. It is the policy of the museum that proceeds from the sale of any collections items are to be used to purchase additional collection items. Part III, Line 4: The collection items consist of artifacts from World War II and, in particular, the Holocaust. These artifacts are displayed in the museum which serves as a memorial to Holocaust victims and survivors, as well as to educate the general public through tours of the museum about the Holocaust. Part V, Line 4: The endowment funds were established to fund education and exhibits.
