<DescriptionProgramSrvcAccomTxt>FILM FESTIVAL: Our major activity in 2022 was the 15th annual Imagine Science Film Festival, which took place both in person in New York City and virtually on the Labocine platform from October 14-21. The program for this 15th anniversary festival was very ambitious. We presented more than 100 films from over 40 countries to our audience. Over the course of 8 days, we brought you provocative documentaries, fascinating scientific images, and compelling scientific fiction. The festival consisted of four components:1. Films2. Conversations (online and in person)3. Symbiosis4. Science New Wave (SNW)The 2022 Festival began on the evening of October 14 with an afternoon short program at Cinema Village, followed by an evening at the Museum Of the Moving Image with feature film UTAMA, winner of the Bolivian Sundance. This year's festival program was ambitious. We presented our audience with 101 films from over 40 countries in 43 programs. In keeping with the principles of the Science New Wave, our program celebrated cinematic works that promoted bold and hybrid new forms of scientific storytelling. Over the course of 8 days, we screened provocative documentaries, fascinating scientific images, and compelling scientific fiction.Throughout the festival, we also explored how to visually explain and represent scientific experiments through film and how science and society intersect. Our theme was SCIENCE NEW WAVE. We explored the six founding traits listed in the Science New Wave manifesto through cinema:1. Culture is science, science is culture2. Diversity feeds the ecosystem3. Experiments become cinema.4. Structure dictates function.5. Science and story never collide6. We are all messengersWe had four in-person events:On opening night at the Museum of the Moving Image, we showed Alejandro Loayza Grisi's powerful first feature film Utama on the big screen. The Symbiosis Competition, presented by Science Sandbox, which began on the first night and ran concurrently with our festival took place on Monday, October 18, at 7pm at CAVEAT.With the support of Warner Media One Fifty, the Science New Wave Development Fund was held at the NYU Production Lab on Saturday, October 16. That evening, we also launched the new sharing feature on Habitat to facilitate the exchange of ideas and research with our members on the platform and the broader community. The Closing night and Awards ceremony, featured the 6 films created by our pairs of scientists and filmmakers as part of the Symbiosis competition. These were screened at the Wythe Hotel on Friday, October 21 at 7pm.In total, about 10,000 people attended the festival, online and in-person.Other satellite projects rounded out the year. We helped organize a film program for Harvard in NYC.</DescriptionProgramSrvcAccomTxt>

The goal of this program is to provide grants ranging from $2,500 to $15,000 to support all types of film projects at various stages including fiction, documentary, hybrid and more. In 2022, Imagine Science proudly awarded grants totaling $39,450 to five exceptional groups of filmmakers, providing them with resources and opportunities to advance their science-focused film projects. To celebrate and showcase these endeavors, Imagine Science hosted a special event called the "Science New Wave Lab Kick-Off" night during its 15th annual Imagine Science Film Festivals. This gathering brought together not only the grant recipients but also other aspiring projects seeking exposure and potential future investments.</DescriptionProgramSrvcAccomTxt>
