The tax exempt purpose of the Association and the nature in which it operates is described in the first paragraph of Note 1. The Association continues to operate in compliance with its tax exempt purpose. However, revenue, less related costs of unrelated business activities (primarily from advertising income) is subject to tax. The Association is required to pay income taxes on its unrelated business income as follows: Federal income tax for 2022 and 2021 is $34,000 and $30,841 respectively. State income tax provision for 2022 and 2021 is $17,000 and $11,920 respectively. The Association's annual information and income tax returns filed with the federal and state governments are subject to examination by the Internal Revenue Service for three years after filing.
