The organization exercised ordinary business care and prudence by contacting the IRS e-file help desk after rejection. The IRS escalated the issue to its exempt organization department and the organization received guidance to wait until the IRS could update its e-file system to accommodate the organization's year-end change. The cause of late filing is due to waiting on the IRS to update the e-file system and was not due to willful neglect on the part of the organization.
