Due to the Pandemic the annual gathering at Bodhgaya in January 2022 was cancelled; ceremonies were held instead in the annual attendees' monasteries. Furthering the cultural and religious activity of Tibetan Buddhism is the exempt purpose of the Head Lama of TNMC church. The exempt purpose of Head Lama of TNMC is to further the activities of Buddhism particularly Tibetan Buddhism. In 1993 TNMC established this Bodhgaya Trust organization to continue annual Peace Ceremonies at Bodh Gaya India so that the Tibetan Nyingma school monasteries monastics and lay people could come together annually at Bodh Gaya the place of the Buddha's Enlightenment to practice their faith and pray for world peace.
