The grant was awarded to support local programming in Equatorial Guinea to further the common mission of EG Justice and Comision Ecuatoguineana de Jurista. This programming includes providing legal services for activists, providing legal services that advocate locally with governments to further democracy, and programming around anti-kleptocracy and anti-corruption efforts. The grant proposal was reviewed and approved by the Board of Directors of the filing organization in accordance with its written conflict of interest policy. Tutu Alicante Leon does not benefit personally from any of this funding, and all funding is allocated to programs with arms length approval. Tutu Alicante Leon disclosed his relationship and recused himself from all discussions and votes related to the grant decision. The board determined that the grant was in the best interest of the organization and furthered its exempt mission.
