The Association believes that it has appropriate support for any tax positions taken, and as such, does not have any uncertain tax positions that are material to the financial statements. Form 990, Part III, Line 1 To economically transform the lives of local neighborhood residents and businesses by providing programs and services that empower the community, develop its commerce, and honor its Mexican American culture and heritage. And to address problems resulting from area poverty to stimulated neighborhood economic vitality by aggressive efforts to improve economic and housing development. Form 990, Part III, Line 4a Chartered in 1979, Avenida Guadalupe Association AGA began a process of transforming slum and blighted conditions in the Avenida Guadalupe neighborhood, first acquiring and demolishing a concentration of 40 blighted corrals including relocation for the construction of the UDAG funded Plaza Guadalupe complex Educational, Medical, and Civic Center in 1984 in partnership with the San Antonio Development Agency SADA. In cooperation with AGA, SADA facilitated property acquisition and new construction of early commercial building environments. Thus far, within a forty-plus year duration of the AGA a primary program service is 1 ongoing maintenance and management of public amenities consistent with public purpose which includes 2 serving as a hub for community organizations and primarily community service businesses i.e., doctors, dentist, government agencies, and adult education services, etc. and 3 promoting and celebrating Mexican-American culture to generate and maintain vitality and development in the neighborhood in which the premises developments are located. Two partnership accomplishments in 2022 includes participation in the redevelopment of the Alazan-Apache Courts with the San Antonio Housing Authority and facilitation of community engagement/community building processes with Saldana Associates for Opportunity Home San Antonio for the redevelopment masterplan of the Lincoln Courts into 2023, both significant housing improvement projects that have positive transformative potential for the Westside community. In FY2022 AGA completed the development of its online broadcast service launching in 2023 focusing on marketing community services and activities, relevant information dissemination, and cultural heritage programming. AGA continues in FY2023 to manage and support age-in-place housing for senior citizens residing in the Avenida Guadalupe neighborhood and near Westside of San Antonio. In FY2022, AGA, consistent with CED retention of area businesses strategy facilitated the business-survival of La Popular Panaderia, a 50 year old area business threatened by closure upon the sale of the leased building. Now located in an AGA food service development at 1320 Guadalupe Street, La Popular continues to do business in the community it has served for decades.
