<Desc>Total grants and donations under our Joey & Oreo HEAL Grants Program towards veterinary payments for 62 dogs belonging to owners in financial need. The payments were made directly to the treating veterinary facility for family pets with a good prognosis for recovery. We were successful in saving 60of these dogs, who may otherwise have been euthanized or surrendered (enter the shelter system) due to lack of funds for treatment. All these pets have recovered and are healthy, living happily with their families.</Desc>

<GrantTypeTxt>No one individuals was given a grant of $5,000 or more. $31,372 of total grants and donations awarded under our Joey & Oreo HEAL Grants Program towards veterinary payments for 62 dogs belonging to owners in financial need. The payments were made directly to the treating veterinary facility for family pets with a good prognosis for recovery. We were successful in saving 60of these dogs, who may otherwise have been euthanized or surrendered (enter the shelter system) due to lack of funds for treatment. All these pets have recovered and are healthy, living happily with their families. $27,771 towards sterilization of over 100 dogs and providing dog food to several families and independent rescuers and feeders. We believe that sterilization is the only proven method that improves animal well-being in the short, medium and long term. Our aim to make spay and neuter services available to low-income families and stray animals from rescuers and feeders to avoid unwanted litters in South Texas</GrantTypeTxt>

Treatment costs are paid directly to the veterinary hospitals treating family pets. We ask for families to cover a minimum of 10% of the total medical expense. Applicants are required to fill out an application, submit proof of financial need and an estimate from the vet of the cost of treatment.</ExplanationTxt>
