In May 2023 we co-hosted a webinar with the Lincoln Land Institute called Community Resilience Through Small Scale Manufacturing A Template for Smaller Legacy Cities. This panel was based on a paper we published via author Sarah Yeung. Form 990, Part III, Line 4a Stmt of Program Accomplishments continuation Inclusive WorkforceCompleted the 18 month Industry and Inclusion Community Cohort, which engaged 12 community colleges in addressing barriers for underrepresented students in accessing manufacturing careers. Published an Equity Scorecard that provides concrete strategies for community colleges and policymakers to advance equity outcomes in their manufacturing programs. Presented at three conferences, including the MEP National Network meeting. Launched Industry and Inclusion 3.0, focused on supporting three regional coalitions that are receiving federal funding. Form 990, Part III, Line 4a Stmt of Program Accomplishments continuation Place-Based Strategies Launched Cincinnati Makers Council Development Started an initiative to support creative makers that are starting, scaling, and sustaining maker based businesses in the Greater Cincinnati Region. Hosted Design Jams in Seattle and Baltimore Brought together over 50 creative individuals, business owners, and manufacturers to develop solutions to local challenges by leveraging local manufacturing capabilities. Provided Technical Assistance to Made in NYC and SFMade Supported two local branding initiatives by providing technical assistance. In NYC we helped plan and run a week-long celebration of small maker businesses in New York as well. In San Francisco we managed a community of practice that brought together economic development leaders from the San Francisco Bay Area to learn about the importance of manufacturing and the challenges manufacturing businesses face. Facilitated the Flexible Product Fabrication Community of Practice Brought together over 25 individuals, business owners, workforce trainers, and academics to a series of group discussions to explore challenges and opportunities for small batch manufacturers working in the soft goods and textile industry.
