HGP also offers educational and volunteer opportunities to the broader community. The programs take place in an organic farm and in related enterprises.In 2021, the Organization provided 12,019 hours of paid job training. Eighty-nine percent of program graduates transitioned into stable jobs or income, and 78% transitioned into stable housing. The Organization also maintains a retail store which sells a variety of items handmade by volunteers and program trainees. The COVID-19 pandemic had an impact on HGP operations leading to a decrease in volunteer and program participation and farm production in 2020 and 2021. From the broader community, 661 people served as volunteers, contributing 5,625 hours. The Financial Accounting Standards Board issued guidance that clarifies the accounting for uncertainty in income taxes recognized in an organization's financial statements when it is more than likely than not the positions will be sustained upon examination by the tax authorities. As of December 31, 2021 the Organization has no uncertain tax positions that qualify for either recognition or disclosure in the financial statements. The Organization's tax years 2018 through 2021 remain open and could be subject to the examination by the federal tax jurisdiction. For the state tax jurisdiction, the tax years 2017 through 2021 remain open and could be subject to taxation. Form 990, Part VI, Line 11b: Form 990 Review Process The draft 990 is presented at a board meeting for board approval before it is submitted. If needed for timely filing, the Executive Committee will review. Form 990, Part VI, Line 12c: Explanation of Monitoring and Enforcement of Conflicts All Board Members are required to sign the Conflict of Interest Statement annually and are required to disclose any conflicts.
