SVMA members participated in 7 college & career fairs. SVMA members hosted 30 summer interns (2023).2023 Workforce Development Highlights Included: SVMA launched the SVMA CNC Machinist Apprenticeship Program with 5 employers and 6 apprentices enrolled. SVMA collaborated with Folsom Lake College and received funding to develop a Quality Control Technician Apprenticeship Program. Apprenticeship standards were submitted in April 2024, anticipating approval by July 2024 and formally launching program in Q4 2024.Membership and Professional Development: SVMA hosted professional webinars for members about tax incentives, banking, quality control, lean manufacturing and hosting high school internships. SVMA/Charles A. Jones Regional Manufacturing Training Center: SVMA and the Charles A Jones Regional Manufacturing Training Center (RMTC) for Adults received 2 grants from the Cities of Elk Grove and Rancho Cordova to train residents for manufacturing careers. The grants allowed the RMTC to launch the 8-month Manufacturing Technician Program. Two students graduated from the Manufacturing Technician Program in June 2023 and 9 students are currently enrolled. These students graduated in November 2023 & January 2024. Reasonable Cause Statement for Late Filing of Return The Organization respectfully requests that any penalties and interest which may bedue under IRC Sec. 6651(a)(1)due to late filing of Form 990-EZ be abated due to reasonable cause. Under Reg. 301.6651-1(c)(1), penalty may be waived upon showing of reasonable cause. Although not defined in Reg. 301.6651, reasonable cause relating to failure to file an information reporting return is considered to exist when there is a "significant mitigating" factor with respect to the failure [Reg. 301.6724-l(a)(2)]. It must also be established that "...the filer acted in a responsible manner...both before and after the failure occurred." A significant mitigating factor includes events beyond the filer's control such as "[c]ertain actions of an agent" [Reg. 301.6724-1(c)(1)].The Organization was incorporated on December 15, 2020. At that time, the Organization was advised by its attorney that there was no filing requirement. The Organization subsequently learned that it did have a filing requirement and immediately filed an extension request. However, the due date for filing such a request had passed.
