Contributions are deductible by donors to the extent allowable under federal income tax law. The Association is not subject to Texas margin tax. The Association believes that it has appropriate support for any tax positions taken, and as such, does not have any uncertain tax positions that are material to the financial statements. Its federal tax returns for the last four years remain subject to examination. Form 990, Part III, Line 4a Chartered in 1979, Avenida Guadalupe Association AGA began a process of transforming slum and blighted conditions in the Avenida Guadalupe neighborhood, first acquiring, and demolishing a concentration of 40 blighted corrals including relocation for the construction of the UDAG funded Plaza Guadalupe complex educational, medical, and civic center in 1984 in partnership with the San Antonio Development Agency SADA. In cooperation with AGA, SADA facilitated property acquisition and new construction of early commercial building environments. Thus far, within a forty-plus year duration of the AGA a primary program service is ongoing maintenance and management of community investment economic development environments and public amenities consistent with its mission and the City of San Antonio defined public purpose which includes 1 serving as a central business hub maintaining and encouraging an environment suitable for community-serving business economic risk i.e. doctors, dentists, government agencies, and adult education services, etc. 2serving as a long-standing well established barrio network hub and facilitating partner and 3 promoting and celebrating Mexican-American culture to generate and maintain vitality and development in the neighborhood in which the developments are located. In FY 2023, AGA, partly through subsidized lease agreement, hosts the new headquarters for the San Antonio Philharmonic, effectively incubating its independent redevelopment to fortify its workforce of union-based musician labor while injecting artistic enrichment in its new headquarter neighborhood that of the Alazan Apache Public Housing Project. AGA continues into 2024 to manage and support age-in place housing for senior citizens residing in the Avenida Guadalupe neighborhood and near Westside of San Antonio serving a 0-30 AMI and 30-50 AMI senior tenant base. AGA continues to provide important culturally sensitive special event activity for children living in extreme poverty to include Cinco de Mayo in partnership with the Consulado General de Mexico en San Antonio Dieciseis de Septiembre Observation as part of the San Antonio Dies y Seis Commission Dia De Los Ninos the neighborhood Barrio Boo at Halloween and Pictures with Santa - serving an approximated 2000 are family members in the 2023 calendar year. Avenida Guadalupe Association continues to provide national advocacy relevant to its mission to improve options for affordable housing, workforce development and economic development, and other relevant issues related to family economic success for its target community and all Americans living below the poverty line through its participationin the Natkional Council of La Raza,now called UnidosUS.
