With deep experience serving UVFRs, we address the unique challenges they face by helping them understand, qualify for, and access USDA programs in culturally relevant and linguistically appropriate ways. Our hands-on approach provides tailored guidance, organic education, mentorship, and cooperative marketing opportunities through our CSA program, ensuring producers gain the knowledge, support, and economic stability needed to build a fair, resilient, and equitable regional food system. HOPE for Small Farm Sustainability is building a regional food system that links nonprofit organizations with small-scale farmers and ranchers across the Texas Rio Grande Valley, Central Texas, the Upper Gulf Coast, and North Texas to expand wholesale market access through coordinated logistics, storage, and transportation between food hubs. By managing product movement to hubs in Harlingen, Central Texas, and Houston for distribution to the Dallas Farmers Market and other nonprofit buyers, HOPE strengthens market pathways for producers who lack access to urban markets. The project also provides growers with technical assistanceincluding wholesale training, product tracing, safe handling, labeling, packing, transportation, value-added development, and financial managementsupported by an The project goal is to provide land to individuals for farming, either individually or in a cooperative community. Training will expand on the current Beginning Farmer and Rancher (peer-to-peer) curriculum by replicating HOPEs programming throughout Texas, adding satellite sites for HOPEs Services. HOPEs current peer-to-peer training program takes place at the HOPE location in Harlingen, TX. The proposed project will target regions across the state, including Waco and Dallas, and 3 additional sites in the Lower Rio Grande Valley: Santa Rosa, Mission, and Donna. This land is made available through donations from religious institutions and collaborating trainers. In addition to these sites, HOPE plans to purchase property to help preserve land.
